Valencia star’s request to play for Spain blocked by passport delay

Valencia defender, Gabriel Paulista has to wait to play for Spain in 2021 because of a delay over his passport application.

The 30-year-old Brazilian has revealed his desire to play for La Roja at the senior level after not being able to play in a senior competitive match for his native country.

However, The ex-Arsenal ace had many issues in the process, and he will not play in Luis Enrique‘s line-up for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers this month.

Based on

Marca

's reports, Paulista already has his own passport and currently has been re-registered as an EU player in

Valencia

's squad.

He also couldn't make it to a FIFA deadline to be fit for the next round of international matches.

Paulista and Enrique are set to push FIFA on this situation in the next months with the center-back expecting to ensure a place in the ex-Barcelona boss’ European Championships squad this summer.
