Liverpool got used to winning every game, now it is complicated - Mane

Mon 15 March 2021 | 9:27

The current Premier League champions have gone through a challenging season as they are now trying to realign their targets.

Liverpool

winger

Sadio Mane

revealed that it has been “really complicated” at Anfield this season as the team that was “used to winning every single game” had to endure regression.

The Reds got used to grabbing all the points that were put in front of them, with winning

Champions League

, Club World Cup and

Premier League

titles in a remarkable run.

This season, however, they had to struggle with a lot of injuries and did not get off on the right foot. The Senegal international believes the Reds should reset their targets.

Before going against

Wolves

on Monday, the 28-year-old said:

“As a professional footballer it is not easy when you are used to winning every single game like we were used to last year.

“At times it was tough, but not like it is now, which is a really complicated time, but we are more experienced now and we know how to deal with things. You just have to stick together and be as positive as you can.”

Mane added:

“Being in the top four right now is our main target, but to win the Champions League is our main, main target. It won't be easy because we are going to face the best teams in Europe, but we are here to beat the best in the world. We will do everything possible to go for it and to win the Champions League.”

Jurgen Klopp

’s side has a distinct chance at European victory this season, however.

With a thumping 4-0 win over

RB Leipzig

in the Champions League Round of 16, they are forcing their way into another trophy. Their quarter-final rivals are yet to be drawn.

Liverpool’s attention is now concentrated on their battle against Wolverhampton. Should they grab all the three points, they will sit sixth on the table with nine games left.
