Cagliari boss does not want to talk about Ronaldo incident.

Cristiano Ronaldo

faced a lot of criticism after

were knocked out of the Champions League.

Ronaldo has failed to help the Bianconeri to reach the final stages of Champions League in the last three seasons, and some believe his recruitment project to help the team succeed in European competitions has failed.

The 36-year-old, however, had a brilliant performance against

tonight and scored a perfect hat-trick to give a strong response to his critics in recent weeks. But the pictures show that Ronaldo was lucky not to be sent off early in the game and after scoring the first goal.

In the 13

minute of the game, Ronaldo had a clash with Cagliari goalkeeper and could have been sent off for a high foot on the goalie’s face. However, the talented striker received a yellow card instead.

Cagliari boss

Leonardo Semplici

talked about the game in a post-match interview with

Sky Sport Italia

. The Italian also refused to comment on Ronaldo’s incident.

He said:

“I have never talked about referees and I am not going to start now.

“We allowed Juve too many counter-attacks and left ourselves open to their strengths. We didn’t keep the right distances and had the wrong attitude from the start.

“I take responsibility, because evidently I didn’t manage to drill into the team how important our attitude was in this game.

“I think ultimately it was more our fault that we lost rather than giving credit to Juve, even if we did have a reaction after the break.

“There’s a long way to go this season and we must improve a great deal.”
