Sun 14 March 2021 | 19:45

Juventus skipper Giorgio Chiellini calls for 'focus one game at a time and keep going', and stated that Juve's answer to criticism is replied on the pitch against Cagliari.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the superstar in the

Serie A

game with three goals in his name in the opening 32 minutes. Nonetheless, the Portuguese talisman declined to give a post-match interview with the media.

CR7 also had his controversial moments in the match, as he received a yellow card for a dangerous challenge while going in high and getting Alessio Cragno on the jawline, so at the actual limits of a straight

red card

Chiellini addressed the Italian TV slot rather after the last whistle of a 3-1 victory.

“It’s always better to win 3-0 than 3-1, especially for us defenders, but at the moment we need to stay quiet, remain united and prove we still believe.

“It was a tough test, as Cagliari are a very good team, we’ve got Benevento up next and need to find that consistency we’ve been lacking so far this season.

“With all due respect for Inter, we have to focus only on our own results. Once we reach the end, we’ll see where we are, but the only course we can take is to focus one game at a time and keep going.”

Some of the senior players in the Old Lady squad were criticized for not addressing the media after the

Champions League

loss to Porto.

“We spoke within the dressing room. This isn’t the moment to be talking too much, our strength has always been giving our response on the pitch,” replied Chiellini.

“I think if we maintain that unity, we’ll do well. Now we have the whole week to prepare and also the break for international duty gives us a chance to get some players back.

“We try to take the positives from every situation, we have more time to analyse how we can improve.”
