Former Nerazzurri owner remembers the first piece of Silverware that Inter picked up under his ownership.

Inter

won the 1998 UEFA Cup final against

Lazio

with a 3-0 result.

Ivan Zamorano

scored the opener for the Nerazzurri in the fifth minute and

Javier Zanetti

doubled their lead just before the hour mark. In a match that redeemed Inter’s disappointment of losing the Serie A title to

Juventus

,

Ronaldo

’s goal in the 70th minute sealed the victory for

Gigi Simoni

’s team.

“The final in Paris was a party,”

Moratti told

Sky Sport Italia

in a special program dedicated to Ronaldo.

“It was satisfying for us after what we had missed out upon in the days before (the Serie A title).

“It was a party in a beautiful city (Paris), there was the hope that the future could bring who knows what.”

Italian Musician and Inter fan

Luciano Ligabue

also spoke about Ronaldo’s goal.

“It is impossible to forget the double stepover with which Ronaldo put poor Luca Marchegiani on the ground,”

Ligabue said.

“It was the first victory Ronaldo brought to our team, so the celebrations afterwards were double.”
