Wed 10 March 2021 | 20:06

The Brazilian star has been contrasted with two legends by Paris Saint-Germain's head coach.

Mauricio Pochettino has said that Neymar helps him remember

Diego Maradona

and

Ronaldinho

; the PSG manager added that the 29-year-old Neymar likewise has the gifts of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Pochettino got at the helm of PSG in January and has effectively been persuaded by Neymar's quality regardless of the Brazilian's injury problems.

While Neymar keeps on being out of action, Pochettino accepts that the winger is among the world's bests and is eager to have him back in the squad.

"Neymar is at the level of Cristiano or Messi, of course," Pochettino told

CBS Sports

. "Reminds me a little bit like Maradona or Ronaldinho, that he wants to play, he wants to play, like a child, always wants the ball and needs to feel the ball at his feet and create. He's an amazing talent."

While Pochettino compared Neymar with Messi and Ronaldo, it's been Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe who have attracted many juxtapositions with the legendary two in late weeks.

Mbappe scored an amazing hat-trick against Blaugrana to ease the way towards the

Champions League

quarter-finals for PSG, while Haaland turned into the most youthful player to score 20 Champions League goals with his double against Sevilla on Tuesday.

The two have quickly vaulted themselves into the discussion among the world's best players, and Pochettino has nothing but praises for what Mbappe and Haaland are now achieving at such youthful ages.

"It's unbelievable the player that we have living because we have amazing players that are younger and they're fighting to be close or to be the same level as Cristiano or Messi," Pochettino said.

"What they are doing is massive, it's amazing. They're so young that they need to show their quality and be consistent. It's not just about one night or one season, it's about season by season showing that they are the best."
