Tuchel breaks record in clean-sheet in Chelsea victory against Everton

Wed 10 March 2021 | 4:26

Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel continues to receive applause for his start of life at Chelsea, and the victory against Everton on Monday marked his name in the record books.

The Blues managed the last 11 undefeated matches under Tuchel, and the 2-0 win over Everton witnessed him become the first coach in Premier League history to see his team maintain a clean sheet in each of his first five home matches in charge in the division.

Like the fact that strikers advance with goals, a clean sheet to a defender and goalkeeper is just as valuable. The Blues dismissed the threat of Everton very easily on Monday.

Blues goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy only had one shot on target to handle, but at the other side, an own goal from Ben Godfrey and a Jorginho penalty guaranteed the three points that strengthened Chelsea’s position in the top four.

Chelsea

have conceded just two goals in 11 matches since the German took charge, and he claimed it all depends on a group effort and mindset.

“It is about desire,”

Tuchel

revealed.

“Defending is about effort. Sometimes it is necessary to defend midfield. It is about reliability, trust, courage, bravery.

“They guys around you must help you, principles, reliable, having your backs covered.”
