Hasenhuttl: “Expect Ings back after the international break”

According to the Southampton boss, the England international’s injury is "serious but not too serious" and he may return to the pitch next month.

Danny Ings

sustained a muscle injury in his leg in

’s victory over

Sheffield United

on Saturday.

Ralph Hasenhuttl

revealed that the striker is going to miss the next three weeks and will not be back in action until after his international duty.

I think it is a serious one but not too serious,

" Hasenhuttl said. "

I think three weeks it'll be, expect him back after the international break

The 28-year-old has found the back of the net nine times in 25 games he played for his side this season and is now going to be sidelined for the second time after returning from a knee problem he suffered before Christmas.

Southampton have offered Ings a profitable new deal which he has yet to decide on as the England international is a crucial player for his side.

Luck would not have it with the Saints as they have suffered from a lot of injury setbacks, with the manager telling Sky Sports:

"It's a little bit fitting to the history we've had in these past weeks. It's horrible this season, we have so many problems and as soon as players are coming back others are injured again.

"We lost Ori [Oriol Romeu] and now we lose Ings again and these are all very important players for us."

Hasenhuttl was pleased to have ended their winless run of nine games on Saturday against Sheffield United after January 4’s clash being their last victory.

The first win after a long time is always an important one, and I think it was a deserved one today,"

he said. "

We had a good performance, deserved to win and it feels good.

"The team did what we had to do against a team that is fighting for everything. The only thing I can criticise is that we could have scored more, but it was important for Che to score, Nathan Tella played well, and it was a good performance."
