On this year, 2017, Bayern humiliated Arsenal with a 10-2 victory

It was Arsenal's last Champions League match as they failed to qualify for the tournament since then.

On this day, back in 2017,

Arsenal

suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat against

Bayern Munich

in the second leg of their Champions League match. It was the seventh successive season that Arsenal got knocked-out of the last-16 stage of the Champions League and also, Wenger’s last match as a manager in this European competition.

Arsenal lost the first leg also with the same result and the 10-2 result on aggregate was the worst defeat by a Premier League club in the Champions League in history. Arsenal have failed to qualify for the Champions League since then and there is little hope they can even qualify for the Europa League this season.

They have brought Unai Emery after Arsene Wenger left the club but the change in the management of the club had no positive result for them as Emery also got sacked eventually last season. He was replaced by Arteta who apparently had a long-term plan for the club but it doesn’t look like they can compete with European top clubs anytime soon again.
