Torino manager 'Desperate' to play after two postponed games

Sat 06 March 2021 | 17:51

Torino head coach Davide Nicola guarantees they are anxious to play against Crotone after seeing their last two games delayed because of a COVID-19 widespread.

Their

Serie A

match against Sassuolo was officially delayed, while the midweek round against Lazio was canceled, and a choice on what occurs there is yet to be made.

The team were put in isolation and additionally restricted from training together for seven days until late on Tuesday.

"These have been difficult days, COVID is not a walk in the park, but we are desperate to play and can't wait to get going again," said Nicola in his press conference.

"This is a family, we share pain and joy equally. I saw the team eager to get out there and resume where we left off. It is important to do that with determination and enthusiasm.

"Training from home is like asking Lewis Hamilton to use his Formula 1 car in the back garden. We tried to focus more on tactical situations and individual issues. Inevitably, five days of total inactivity and three of training individually will mean you lose some match fitness.

"Anyway, it's not the problem that matters, it's how you react to it. Things happen in life, you have to react and show you are ready. I am sure those who play will give their best not only for themselves, but also for those who cannot play due to COVID.

"I asked the lads to free themselves from negative thoughts. Crotone represents another step in this journey and we must do everything we can."
