While rumors suggest that Andre Silva may replace Lacazette, the Spanish coach reacted to French forward's situation.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has claimed that they intend to start negotiations to extend the contract of striker

Alexandre Lacazette

, despite rumors of his departure.

The French striker has a contract with

Arsenal

until 2023, and recent reports suggest that Arsenal were planning to sell him last summer. Atletico Madrid and Roma were the two clubs that closely monitored Lacazette. However, Arteta confirmed that the club is looking to extend the 29-year-old striker's contract.

“He's got a contract with us,”

Arteta said when asked if Lacazette could leave the club in summer.

“He played really well the other week. It's exactly what we demand him to do.

“I'm really happy with him and the discussions about his contract will happen soon and we will see what happens.”

However,

Calciomercato

has claimed that Andre Silva is Arsenal's main option to replace Lacazette. The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has performed very well in this team and has a good scoring record. He has previously played in the Portuguese League, Serie A, La Liga and Bundesliga and has no experience in the Premier League.
