Javier Tebas calls Bartomeu's arrest “a reputational problem”

The La Liga boss believes the series of arrests on Monday will not only affect the Blaugrana’s reputation as a club but it would also harm the La Liga itself.

chief, Javier Tebas, expressed his disappointment with the arrest of former


president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, by calling it

“a reputational problem”

for both the league and the Catalonian club.  

Bartomeu, who was arrested alongside his advisor, Jaume Masferrer, the club’s CEO, Óscar Grau, and head of legal at Camp Nou, Román Gómez Punti, spent a night in Travessera de Les Corts police station jail before being released after giving his testimony in front of Judge Alejandra Gil, revealed

“It is a reputational problem, it is not good for Barcelona or for the league. I cannot assess the facts. I hope and wish that there has not been any excess, but the damage is irreparable for Bartomeu as a person, it is reputational damage.”
