Liverpool are set to lose Mohamed Salah for a couple of months next season due to international duty.

Liverpool

might have to deal with

Mohamed Salah

’s absence for the start of the next season as

Egypt

national team confirmed they want their star man to play at the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics.

This would mean that Salah could miss much of Liverpool’s pre-season and their opening to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

The rescheduled event's football competition is typically between national under-23 sides, with the caveat that countries can call up three players over the age limit as senior party members.

“Egypt U-23 team’s preliminary squad will be led by Mohamed Salah and Mohamed El-Shennawy alongside another goalkeeper,”

Egypt’s U-23 coach

Shawky

Gharib

is quoted as saying by

Ahram Online

.<em>

“Salah is currently one of the most important players in the world and it’s normal to call him for Egypt’s Olympic squad.

“We will start the official talks with Liverpool after the international break next March.”
