Mon 01 March 2021 | 10:24

Peter Neururer revealed that he is willing to get back to coaching if Schalke 04 require his help.

During an interview with

Sport1

,

Peter Neururer

admitted he was hinted that he may be appointed as

Christian Gross

’s replacement after

Schalke 04

dismissed him on Sunday following their thumping 5-1 defeat by

VfB Stuttgart

.

"

But the signals have to come from the right people,

" said Neururer and continued that "

there's no question"

he intends to help

'The Royal Blues

'.

"

But I won't influence any decisions,

" the former Schalke coach insisted.

As well as Gross, the club has also relieved assistant coach Rainer Widmayer, Sascha Riether, fitness coach Werner Leuthard, and Jochen Schneider of their duties.

"

Strangely enough, I already knew that some people would lose their jobs few days ago. The fact that I knew three days in advance that this would happen on Sunday morning is a sign of weakness from the club

," said Neururer.

Neururer has been a coach at Schalke, Hertha BSC, Hannover 96, FC Köln, and Bochum.

Schalke are sitting 18th on the

Bundesliga

table, having earned only nine points in 23 matches they played this season.
