Bologna manager Sinisa Mihajlovic was surprised after his side managed to beat Lazio 2-0 as they had never beaten any top team this season.
’s
Ciro Immobile
had the opportunity to put the Biancocelesti up 1-0 from the spot. However, the 31-year-old failed to convert the penalty kick.
80 seconds later,
Ibrahima Mbaye
punished them and scored the opener for the Rossoblù, before
Nicola Sansone
doubled their lead with a splendid volley.
“.It was a good performance, and after Immobile had the penalty saved and Ibra Mbaye scored, I said it’s impossible we lose this now!”
Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia
.
“All joking aside, we played well, could’ve scored more on the counter, and in general I am very happy. We controlled the ball well, closed up the spaces and pressed Lazio hard.
“We are a team who play football and put in the performance. We aren’t always determined enough to convert the chances, but we attack and have a lot of quality in the side. Sometimes we concede on an error or waste chances, but today everything went well.”
This was
Bologna’s first win against a club from the top half of the table and
Mihajlovic
admits he was surprised.
“We knew that sooner or later we’d have to beat one of the big clubs. Perhaps I expected it less today than any other, as we had to change half the defense and the full-backs are particularly important for attacking as well as defending.
