Fernandinho denies coaching role offer

Mon 22 February 2021 | 19:38

It was reported that Manchester City has offered a contract to Fernandinho but not as a player but as a coaching staff.

Fernandinho

is probably spending his last year in Manchester as the player’s contract with

Manchester City

will be expired at the end of the summer. It was reported that The Citizens have offered a coaching role to their defensive midfielder but Fernandinho denied the reports and said that he won’t decide about that until the end of the season.

"I've been focused on Man City,"

 he told

TNT Sports

' Fred Caldeira.

"I know how much my team-mates need me.

"I made a decision to only decide my future when the season is over. I already had an offer, not to be part of Pep’s staff, but to be an employee of the club.

“I was flattered, after eight years at Man City and the respect I have gained here, but it is a decision that I put aside."

Fernandinho is one of Guardiola’s favorite player and it is very possible that he become a coach after his retirement as he plays in the same position as Mikel Arteta, Pep’s former assistant and the current manager of Arsenal.
