Gianluigi Buffon has been fined €5,000 by the Italian football federation after using a blasphemous phrase in the game against Parma.
The 43-year-old Italian World Cup winner, who escaped a ban for the offense, was overheard using a “blasphemous expression” towards teammate
Manolo Portanova
during
Juve’s 4-0 league win over
Parmaon 19 December.
The FIGC opened disciplinary proceedings against
Buffon
. If found guilty, Buffon is likely to receive a one-match ban.
However, the National Federal Court only "partially accepted" the FIGC's referral at Thursday's hearing, and former Italy international Buffon escaped with just a fine.
