Julian Baumgartlinger signs new deal with Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Baumgartlinger has signed a new deal until 2022.

In an official statement on Wednesday, the Bundesliga side announced that

has signed a one-year extension deal to his current deal at the club.

"Julian has once again impressively demonstrated his value and importance to our squad this season,"


sporting director Simon Rolfes said on the 33-year-old midfielder


"He has taken responsibility and stepped forward when it was particularly needed - in a phase marked by many absences due to injury.

"We are delighted to have him as a proven leader in our ranks for another year after his recovery."

Baumgartlinger has scored 3 goals and provided one assist in 23 games he has played for Leverkusen so far this season.
