Chelsea intend to sell Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech

Wed 17 February 2021 | 15:40

None of the players have been prominent since the replacement of Frank Lampard by Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea

is reportedly considering the sale of

Hakim Ziyech

or

Christian Polisic

due to a lack of playing time.

Since taking over at Chelsea,

Thomas Tuchel

has performed well, winning five of his first six games and drawing one.

Tuchel has used a 3-4-2-1 formation since replacing

Frank Lampard

at Stamford Bridge.

Timo Werner

and

Mason Mount

were given the nod in the two inside-forward roles for Monday’s 2-0 victory over

Newcastle

.

This victory brought Chelsea to fourth place as the Blues are looking to advance to the

Champions League

.

But while

Georgino

,

Mateo Kivaic

and

Callum Hudson-Odoi

seem to have benefited from the appointment of Tuchel, others have lost.

Polisic has not started a

Premier League

game since Tuchel joined Chelsea.

And while Ziyech was selected to lead the in 0-0 draw with Wolves in Tuchel’s first match, he has not started another top-flight since then.

Both players were not used as a substitute for the victory over Newcastle, and reports suggest that Chelsea may have to transfer at least of them this summer.

Pulisic previously worked for Borussia Dortmund under Tuchel but has been given the cold shoulder in recent weeks.

However, Tuchel said the United States national team was unlucky to miss out against Magpies.

"It was a tight decision if he started or not,”

he said after the game.

"Unfortunately we only had three changes, which makes it very difficult for the players and what they might deserve. He deserves to start, he deserves to come in."

Tuchel and Ziyech both hope Chelsea returns to the Premier League against Southampton on Saturday.

The blues are looking for their sixth consecutive victory in all of St Mary’s.
