Hakim Ziyech deciding his future after tough start at Chelsea

Tue 16 February 2021 | 0:34

After a tough start to his Premier League career, Hakim Ziyech is considering his future at Chelsea.

The Morocco international joined Chelsea from Ajax last summer, with a contract worth around £33.4m.

Ziyech

has experienced a stop-start campaign and could only play 11 matches, which he started 8 of them, in the Premier League.

Ziyech didn't play any of Chelsea’s last three top-flight games.

The attacking midfielder mentions that fitness issues have affected him.

Reportedly, Thomas Tuchel holds

Ziyech

as a back-up player rather than a regular starter.

However, Ziyech's contract will end in 2025 and Chelsea could decide not to sell the player they bought last summer.

“It was a difficult first half-year [at the club],"

Ziyech

announced.

"Of course, I immediately started with an injury, came back, then had another injury. So things are not going the way I had hoped. But, as most know, I always have faith in myself. I know what I can do, so I don't worry too much about that. The real Ziyech will be there.

“It is faster [in the Premier League] than at Ajax. Luckily, I picked that up pretty quickly, until I got injured in the first exhibition game, which then throws you back all the way.”

The Blues will host Newcastle on Monday night.
