Christian Vieri had an interview regarding his former side Lazio who are pushing for the Serie A title.
, who praised
’s “amazing” squad,Lazio
can earn theSerie A
Led by Inzaghi, prolific
, and impressive midfielder
, Lazio are fighting in the 2020-21 season of Serie A.
Should Lazio vanquishInter
on Sunday, they would climb the table to six points adrift of the current leadersMilan
. They will also lock horns withBayern Munich
in theChampions League
Inzaghi has had a huge role in Lazio’s upbring since appointed in 2016, leading his side to success in Coppa Italia in 2019 and Supercoppq Italiana in 2017 and 2019. They have not grabbed silverware since 2013.
Before heading to Inter, Lazio have met the target in all of their last 17 Serie A clashes, which is almost as long as their 1994 record of 18. They have also gone on to earn the most Serie A points this season.
Vieri was with Lazio in the 1998-99 season, meeting the back of the net 14 times in 28 games he played.
He has been there for four years. You can't change coach every year
," ex-Italy striker Vieri said. "
Coaches need time. All the teams that are changing every year aren't doing well.
"Lazio are doing amazing. They have an amazing director – [Igli] Tare, fantastic. They have big players at Lazio.
"Lazio are a fantastic team. They played amazing football. In the Champions League and qualified very easy.
"Lazio are there to win everything. Lazio can win the Scudetto, you never know. Let's see what happens in the Champions League. Anything can happen, but they're doing amazing."
Ever since the 1999-2000 season when Inzaghi played for Lazio, the club hasn’t won the Scudetto.
Inzaghi threatened to put an end to last season’s drought as they were only a point behindJuventus
before the pandemic hit.
However, as the season continued Lazio were sitting third, four points adrift of Juve.
Everyone stopped playing, not only Lazio. The thing is, when you play and you don't need to win the Scudetto, you play with no pressure,
" the 47-year-old Vieri said.
"When they say to you, there's 8-10 games to go and we have to win all eight, and tomorrow we have to win, it changes. You stop sleeping. You're nervous because you have to win.
"One thing is winning the game and no one says anything – you're second or third but no one expects you to win. But when they say there's five games to go and you have to win all five, that changes everything.
"When they started again after COVID-19, they had to win the last six or seven games and didn't do that. Juventus are used to the pressure. That's how it is."
