PFCC sets Liverpool compensation to pay for Harvey Elliott

Joining Liverpool from Fulham has put the two clubs into a conflict, for which the Professional Football Compensation Committee gives a solution.

Performing for

Fulham

against Wolverhampton in May 2019,

Harvey Elliott

became the youngest player to play in the premier league competitions at the age of 16.

Shortly after, he left Fulham to join

Liverpool

in July 2019, which put the two clubs in dispute.

The conflict was said to be settled if Liverpool pays compensation for £1.2 million which can reach £4 million considering the adds-ups.

Fulham thanked PFCC "for its careful consideration". They stated:

"Under the Youth Development Rules, the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) is tasked with assessing the compensation due for a player who leaves an academy at the end of his registration, if the parties cannot agree the figure between themselves.

"After a full hearing, the PFCC has decided that Fulham should be entitled to substantial compensation.

"The award is a record amount for a 16-year-old player and, in the circumstances, Fulham is very pleased and thanks the PFCC for its careful consideration of the arguments we put forward."

The two clubs have not been able to come to proper fee to offer. While Fulham have £8 million in mind to get, Liverpool have only offered £750,000.

Neil Jones

, Liverpool Correspondent, considers the final fee a "very good outcome" for Fulham. The player is currently on a loan to

Blackburn

and Jones believes that his "excellent form" has satisfied Blackburn.

He said:

"In the end, though, the fee looks heavily weighted in Liverpool's favour. Plenty of people at Anfield expect him to become a first teamer, even if the path is a very tough one to tread, and in years to come that £4m figure could well look slim. Indeed, Liverpool could likely sell him for much more than that already.

"They won't, though. He'll return to Anfield at the end of the season all the better for his experience in the Championship. Fulham's loss is very much Liverpool's gain."
