Fri 05 February 2021 | 22:01

Kaide Gordon thanked Derby County for 10-year experience gained at the club and will join Liverpool.

Having spent 10 years at

Derby County

since joining it at the age of six,

Kaide Gordon

has been considered one of England's top talents at his age.

Liverpool

confirmed signing the 16-year-old. Before that,

Wayne Rooney

had confirmed this move.

Rooney said:

"Kaide is a fantastic player. I brought him into the squad because he was showing the qualities I want..

“We offered him a deal which he didn’t take. As always when a player doesn’t sign up, if any of the big clubs in the Premier League come in, it is very difficult to deny the player that opportunity.

“For his development, of course I would have liked him to stay at the club, but I understand once the champions of England come in and want to sign you, it is difficult to turn it down.”

Gordon also expressed his satisfaction with joining a club like Liverpool and thanked Derby County for the decade he spent in it. He said:

"Since signing for the club at the age of 6, I’ve worn this shirt with pride and I wouldn’t be where I am today with the support and guidance of everyone at the club, and all the coaches and medical team who have played an important role in my development over the years.

"I would like to wish everyone at the club all the best for the future."

He will not become

Klopp

's first-team player and will be playing for the U23s.
