Algeria national team coach, Djamel Belmadi who has seen Riyad Mahrez's talent up-close, says the Algeria skipper "isn't happy" at Etihad because he's not getting enough playing time.
Mahrez has played in 119 games across all rivalries for Manchester City since finishing a £60 million ($82m) move to the Cityzens from Leicester in the late spring of 2018.
The 29-year-old has found the net 31 times and provided 31 assists for the Blues while winning thePremier League
, alongside twoEFL Cup
s; however, he has wound up out of Pep Guardiola's equations for the starting lineup.
The Spaniard has just begun Mahrez in 10 of his team's 20 first class matches this season, and he was an unused substitute during their 1-0 success over Sheffield United at the end of the week.
The Algerian manager is positive that Mahrez can turn his circumstances around, though, as he told DZ Foot:
"Mahrez isn't happy in Manchester because he doesn't play often, and he's a fighter who wants to play all the games for his team.
"I can't ask him to leave his club to play more in another, I'm not his agent, but the most important thing is for him to keep his fitness and to be ready for the next games of the national team.
"He's our captain. I understand the fear of the fans, but, in my view, he's got the ability to bounce back once again. I trust him."
Belmadi claims the winger is baffled by his present situation in Manchester City and is worried that an absence of regular minutes could influence his capacity to perform at an international level.
Guardiola's men can reestablish their important lead at the highest point of the Premier League standings over their traditional adversaries,
, on the off chance that they beat the Clarets, who are presently down in the fifteenth spot.
City are being tipped to win their fifth homegrown crown come May after a noteworthy eight-coordinate winning run; however, their head coach slammed the talks of another title for City before their most recent triumph.
"One month ago we were not even in theChampions League
qualification for next season - now we are the only favourites for the Premier League," said Guardiola.
"When people say 'Are you going to win the Premier League?' I don't know. I didn't know it one month ago and I will not know it in one month and, what to expect tomorrow, I don't know."
