Mohamed Simakan will be Dayot Upamecano's substitution at Red Bull Arena.

Mohamed Simakan

will go on a loan move to

RB Leipzig

in the Summer with a €15 million deal.

He is supposed to take the place of

Dayot Upamecano

in the club as he is likely to be headed out of the club. Several clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid were looking to sign Upamecano but it is more likely that he will join Bayern Munich.

AC Milan

had also shown interest to sign Simakan with the same-price offer.

Paolo Maldini

, Milan technical director said that Simakan is the "kind of player" that Milan is looking to sign. He said:

"At this moment, especially for our way of playing but also the situation of football in general, I would go and get a defender who is strong in one-on-one situations.

"That’s why we tried to sign Mohamed Simakan from

RC Strasbourg

"The French league is not very tactical. As a result, the defenders develop the ability to defend well one-on-one. Whether it’s Simakan or someone else, our idea is to sign this kind of player. Maybe they'll have things to learn tactically, but they'll be physically strong and good defensively one-on-one."

The 20-year-old has missed the last three matches of Strasbourg due to an operation on his knee.
