Fleetwood Town have appointed former Leeds, Preston and Blackpool head coach Simon Grayson as their new boss.

Simon Grayson has reached an agreement with Fleetwood and will be the team's head coach until the end of the season. He replaces Joey Barton, who was sacked in early January after three years.

"

It's a football club that I know quite a lot about

," Grayson told Sky Sports News.

"It has got fantastic infrastructure and I have got a hunger and desire to go back to work and try to take Fleetwood forward again."

The 51-year-old has also managed Sunderland, Huddersfield and Bradford City and led four different clubs to promotion from League One.

Fleetwood are ranked 14th in the table, 9 points away from the relegation zone. They have won two points from five games since Simon Wiles was appointed interim coach.

Fleetwood will host Bristol in Grayson's first game. Bristol have also been in an awful situation this season and have not won a single match in their last eight games.
