Sun 31 January 2021 | 13:20

The German coach clarified his decision to leave the Blues player out of the pitch for their upcoming game.

Chelsea

manager, Thomas Tuchel, explained his decision to leave

Hakim Ziyech

out of their squad for their Sunday match against

Burnley

.

The Moroccan, who joined the Blues in 2019 for €40 million (£35m/$50m), did not make his first debut for Chelsea until he was passing his fitness struggles on October 7th to earn him a regular spot on the team.

Following Frank Lampard’s sacking and Tuchel’s arrival there has been a number of alternations on Chelsea’s line-up including Ziyech’s stance with the team.

The 47-year-old, who kept Ziyech out while including

Tammy Abraham

,

Timo Werner

, and

Mason Mount

in their line-up, said:

"He [Ziyech] has been in a bit of overload since five weeks so he has a bit of a risk of getting injured if he plays more than say 30 minutes. For that, we decided to take a break now to go out of the risk zone."

Still the 27-year-old hopes to make it for their Thursday match against

Tottenham

as his team stands in the 10th position of the

Premier League

table.
