A recent injury to the midfielder, Baptiste Santamaria gave him a chance to become a regular starter. Janik Haberer is expected to fill the position after the departure of Abrashi.
Schwarzwaldverein sporting director Klemens Hartenbach released a statement and paid tribute to the defensive midfielder.
"The current state of [positional] competition means that we cannot guarantee Amir any more playing time," Hartenbach noted, "Amir has been with us for five-and-a-half years and is an unequivocally deserving player. We wish to open that door for him."
