There has been an update on Gerard Pique’s recovery from a knee injury and he may feature for the first-team again sooner than expected.

Gerard Pique

has been struggling with a knee injury he sustained in the clash against

Atletico Madrid

in November, and his absence has been dominating the Barca news as the 33-year-old’s impact on the team was significant.

Pique’s knee has sustained a grade 3 sprain to the medial lateral ligament, and a small injury to the anterior cruciate ligament. According to reports, surgery was suggested by Dr. Roman Cugat. However, the defender chose to recover with a rather conservative treatment, given his age and fear for his career.

After two months, Pique’s recovery is satisfactory as he is able to attend running and gym sessions. The process will continue the same way until next month before he can be reassigned.

Ronald Koeman

does not want to rush things and is permitting the 33-year-old to take his time.

His return is expected to be around late March, but it can be postponed.
