After being sidelined for a long time in Arsenal, the 32-year-old moved to the Super Lig club.

Mesut Ozil

will have to accept the reduction of his annual salary from

's €16 million to

's €3 million annual earning to complete his move.

After being released from his contract at Arsenal six months earlier, the 32-year-old signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Fenerbahce.

He had not played for Arsenal since March last year. He also announced his retirement from his International career and confirmed that this retirement had stemmed from his interactions with the DFB president, Reinhard Grindel.

Due to being side-lined for a long time, he was linked with many clubs, and many clubs also were presented as potential clubs he could move to which could meet his wage demands.

However, Ozil had to secure his move from Emirates Stadium to the Turkish club by accepting the wage cut.

Fenerbahce will not pay him until he starts playing for the club at the beginning of the 2021-21 campaign, and Arsenal will be paid € 2 million if Ozil meets his new club's expectations.

He wrote his words to his fans and said:

"I've grown up as an adult in North London, a place I can always call home. I'll never forget that. It's difficult for me to put into words the love I feel for this club and the fans. How could I possibly describe eight years of gratitude in a single letter?

"Whilst I may be no longer playing for the club, I will continue to support them in every game they play. I will be a Gunner for life - no doubt about that."
