Wigan remains without new owners as administrators dismiss 'fake news'
Wigan Athletic administrators deny taking any payments from the club as the English side remains unsold after eight months.

as the club’s administrators when he took over the FA Cup Winners back in 2013. There have been rumors about the administrators taking payment from the club in recent weeks but these reports have been dismissed as “fake news” in a media statement by the club.
“Since our last update there has been a substantial increase in the traffic on social media, coupled with separate interviews by Paul Stanley and Gerald Krasner [of Begbies Traynor] on Talk Sport,”
they said in a statement published on the club's official website on Friday.
“Unfortunately, there has been a lot of misreporting and understanding of the situation which has led to fake news being circulated. We would remind staff and fans that because an item appears on social media it does not make it true, especially where anonymous sources are quoted. We hope here to put the record straight.”
