Finally, the story of Ozil and Arsenal is over.

German star Mesut Ozil left the team after eight years at Arsenal and joined

last week allowed him to travel to Istanbul to take part in Fenerbahce's medical tests. The Gunners agreed to terminate Ozil's contract six months early to get rid of his £350,000-a-week salary, and he has now moved to a club he supported as a child.

MLS clubs such as DC United also wanted Ozil, but he believed Fenerbahce was the best club to continue his football. He has been on the bench in London for the last 11 months and now needs time to return to his exceptional form. Ozil, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013 for $ 58 million, scored 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 appearances for the team.
