Ings and Bertrand eye dream move to Champions League clubs
The Saints’ stars expect the club to break their wage structure amid interest from top-six sides in the Premier League as they are stalling on new Southampton contracts, according to Goal.
Having attracted interest from top-six clubs,
Bertrand
and
Ings
have the experience of playing for England elite clubs,
Chelsea
and
Liverpool,
respectively. England international pair are likely to leave St Mary's either this month or in the summer as
Southampton
are unwilling to break their wage structure.
The 31-year-old left-back’s contract is due to expire in the summer and he is delaying signing a new deal unless they offer a significant pay rise, which means he can negotiate with other clubs from now on as he will be a free agent this summer.
Saints’ other star,
Danny Ings
, has a deal at Southampton until 2022, but like
Bertrand
, he eyes a big pay rise to extend his stay. The 28-year-old striker is also wanted by Champions League sides in England due to his outstanding performance with the Saints.
