Camp Nou's appeal has been lodged after Messi suspended from two games

Tue 19 January 2021 | 17:45

The Argentine superstar was fired after a clash in the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic and now he has been banned from participating in two games.

Barcelona

will be appealing after

Lionel Messi

has been banned because of his Barcelona career's first card, with he set to sit out just two games on the back of his

Spanish Super Cup

dismissal against

Athletic

club.

The RFEF, which oversees Spain's disciplinary affairs, has riled that Messi does not have to serve a lengthy suspension for lashing out at

Asier Villalibre

.

The match officials and The RFEF decided that Messi would have no attack, meaning that standard sentence would be carried out.

Carmen Perez

, president of the Competition Committee, was solely responsible for passing a verdict on Messi.

The RFEF is only responsible for league affairs in the Spanish league, while Messi's offense has occurred in the

FA Cup

.

As a result, Messi will be out in the game against

Cornella

in the

Copa del Rey

and

Elche

in

La Liga

.

Messi is relieved to know that she will be available again until January 31, and his next trip will be for the Barcelona game against Athletic if the appeal is heard.

Revenge in this match will be one of the goals as Barca is still smarting at having seen the Super Cup slip through their grasp.

Messi's anger occurred in extra-time in Seville, which was led twice by

Ronald Koeman

's squad.

Koeman then refused to condemn his captain's actions; he said:

"I can understand what Messi did.

"I don't know how many times they fouled him, and it's normal to react when they keep trying to foul you as a player who is looking to dribble with the ball, but I need to see it again properly."

Barcelona will face Cornella on Thursday in the last 32 of the Copa del Rey.
