Despite the new coronavirus cases, the infections rate is dropping.
The
Premier League
reported 16 new positive cases of Covid-19, confirming the infection rate has dropped below the former rate of 20 cases. After the rise of coronavirus cases, the Premier League doubled the times of testing to 2 times a week.
In January 4-10 there were 36 positive cases while in January 11-17 the number of cases dropped to 16 people.
To avoid any more infections a statement was issued, which required the players to avoid any
"unnecessary contact"
like
"handshakes, high fives and hugging"
during goal-scoring celebrations, while
Aston Villa’s games against
Tottenhamand
Evertonwere postponed due to the rising number of cases on the team.
Villa are expected to face
Manchester Cityin the upcoming days, but
Leeds United’s game against
Southampton, which was supposed to take place on the same day, will not be held.
