Takefusa Kubo on why he joined Getafe

Mon 18 January 2021 | 18:31

The Japanese youngster has joined Getafe on a loan in the current transfer season.

Real Madrid

young star,

Takefusa Kubo

, has joined

Getafe

on a loan after terminating his contract with

Villarreal

due to his lack of game time with Unai Emery’s squad. Kubo, who joined Getafe for their recent game against

Elche

, helped the team to earn a 3-1 victory over their opponent.

Kubo told

Marca

about his decision to join

Getafe

, saying:

“I am a young player and I need to feel like a footballer. I chose Getafe because they were the team who had the most interest in me.”

“What matters most is the next game. I was able to play a role in the two goals last week, and that gives me confidence. My main objective is to help the team achieve its goals and in turn, that will help me to grow as a footballer.”

When asked about choosing Getafe for being based in Madrid, he responded:

“No, that has nothing to do with it. Even if Getafe were in Andalusia, they would have come for me anyway. That is what matters.”
