Mon 18 January 2021 | 14:23

The Gunners are monitoring Newcastle starlet, Freddie Woodman.

Arsenal

had a bad start to the season and at some point, they could see themselves in the relegation area, but they gradually found their proper form and managed to win four of their last five clashes.

It is reported that the Gunners are thinking about strengthening their back by signing a goalkeeper.

They signed

Runar Alex Runarsson

from

Dijon

as a backup for

Bernd Leno

, but the Iceland international couldn’t live up to expectations in his few outings in Europa League and League Cup.

Matt Macey

also recently parted ways with the club after eight years at Emirates Stadium to join

Hibernian

.

There have been some rumors about Arsenal’s interest in

Newcastle

goalkeeper

Freddie Woodman

, who is currently on a loan at Swansea.

The Gunners can make a move for the 23-year-old in January transfer window.

"We are assessing what is going to happen with the three positions,"

Arsenal manager said.

"The discussions we had in the summer with Edu and the club were a little bit different to what actually happened because of the transfer window and the situation that developed with Emi at the end of the day.

"We didn't have much time to do what we really wanted to do and we decided to assess the situation now in this window, which is what we are trying to do, and we will make a decision about how we want to move forward in those three positions in the goalkeeping area."
