The former Liverpool defender comments on the team’s situation in transfer window.

Liverpool

had a good start to the season, but they hit a bump in the road as they faced a series of injuries in their defensive line.

The heart of Liverpool defense,

Virgil van Dijk

was sidelined due to a knee ligament injury and was later joined by

Joel Matip

and

Joe Gomez

.

Liverpool managed to keep some clean sheets in their recent clashes. However, the Reds have the same thing going on in their attacking line, as they experienced their third consecutive goalless run in the Premier League.

Now former Liverpool defender,

Glen Johnson

has warned the Reds on their situation in January transfer window.

In an interview with

Sky Sports

, the English said:

“It’s a tough one. Obviously Hendo and Fabinho are fantastic players and have proved that they can do a job at center-half.

“The problem is for Liverpool that if they try to sign someone, whoever comes through the door is going to know that they are third, fourth or even fifth choice come eight months’ time. What player at the top of his game is going to want to do that?

“Possibly a loan, maybe? Possibly someone that knows they are only going to come in until the end of the season. That’s probably a more likely option - but do they need more bodies? Yes, definitely.”

With 34 points, Liverpool are standing 4

th

in the Premier League table.
