Neto has asked to leave Barcelona

Barcelona have rejected the Brazilian goalkeeper's request to leave the team this month.

Ronald Koeman

has confirmed that

Neto

wanted to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The goalkeeper joined

Barcelona

from

Valencia

in 2019; he has only played 14 games since then, appearing nine times this season.

This week of his request, there have been reports to leave the Camp Nou, which have been accused of transferring him to

Arsenal

.

However, Barca has rejected his request to leave and claim that he is important for the team.

Koeman told reporters on Saturday:

"It's true that his representative has asked the club for an exit and we have said no because he is an important goalkeeper for us and we want to be very well covered at each position."

Blaugrana were eager to sign

Eric Garcia

from

Manchester City

in the recent transfer windows and they are said to be close to ending the deal this month.

But the club is expected to wait until the summer transfer window when he will be available one a free transfer.

Koeman has dismissed suggestions he is upset with to wait and admits they cannot afford to pay to sign him now.

"

I've read I'm unhappy. I'm fine, I'm happy, I know perfectly well the limitations of the club,"

he added.

"If it's not possible, it's not possible. We continue with what we have."
