Salah: "I want to play every minute and every game"

Sat 16 January 2021 | 10:20

The Egypt international has admitted that he is fine with this campaign’s busy schedule.

Liverpool

forward

Mohamed Salah

revealed his desire to play every minute of every game, notwithstanding his side’s hectic fixture this season. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s campaign has started a month late, resulting in teams going through the schedule in less time than other years.

Ahead of the

Manchester United

clash, the Egyptian star revealed his willingness to play as much as he can.

"

I want to play every minute and every game,

" Salah said. "

I want to play 95 minutes, not just 90! But I do respect the manager’s decisions

."

Salah has featured in Liverpool’s previous three

Premier League

matches, with the Reds failing to gain the three points, sitting three points adrift of the current titleholders United.

"

The situation is completely different now due to the coronavirus, as every team has an equal chance of winning because of the fans' absence,

" Salah said.

It's still early to predict a Premier League winner this season. Everyone is close, but I hope we win it again."

The hectic schedule affected Liverpool to a great extent, as they lost some of their key players to injuries such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Matip, and Joe Gomez. Consequently, untested youngsters including Nathaniel Philips n Rhys Williams were assigned prominent roles. Additionally, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho started featuring as defenders sometimes. However, Salah suggested the Reds to make their defense stronger in this month’s transfer window.

"

Injuries have hit us badly this season,

" the Egypt international said. "

You can see how Fabinho is playing as a centre-back, but we can’t stop here, we need to keep going.

"We have many young players who are playing well. I can’t say much about [the transfer market], it’s management's call."
