Lazio won the Derby della Capitale and Inzaghi believes his men deserved this victory
Tonight was one of the most one-sided derbies in recent years in Rome.
defeated Roma 3-0 ,as Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto had made it 2-0 after 23 minutes, with the Spanish adding a third in the second half.
We put in a great performance, made of determination, aggression, pace and stamina. The lads were splendid, but I already saw yesterday that the look in their eyes was the right one, unlike some previous occasions
,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
“The victory is hugely satisfying, we wanted it with all our strength and with the help of our wonderful fans, who came to the training ground today.
“It’s true Lazio dropped points this season, but that’s because we were playing every two-and-a-half days with numerous players out because of COVID, we had 11-12 players for the trip to Brugge.”
Lazio were much more aggressive than Roma in this match.
“Felipe Caicedo and Immobile were the first to start the press, we all worked together, we did what we needed to do as a team. We cared about this derby a great deal and felt ready to make it count.
We were missing Fares, Cataldi and Strakosha, while Correa and Lulic were on the bench just because they are wonderful and wanted to be there. Once we are not as reduced to the bare bones, we can have our say, and this puts us right back in there,
” continued Inzaghi.
“We’d lost a little bit of ground, with a few draws that could’ve been wins, we might’ve already been up there. We know football has changed post-COVID, you have to wait to the last minute to see what players are available, but I hope that I can start to really rotate these lads who over five years have made me incredibly happy.”
Lazzari easily became the Man of the Match and constantly bothered the Roma's left side throughout the game.
“He had real problems last week, needed treatment and painkillers over the last couple of days, but he is a great guy and deserves all the praise.”
