The player was dismissed from the match’s starting XI after he revealed to be suffering from some pain in his muscle.

Arsenal

manager, Mikel Arteta, revealed that they didn’t wish to take risks with

Kieran Tierney

on their Thursday clash with

Crystal Palace

after the full-back reported to be having some muscle pain.

The 23-year-old, who has been one of the Gunners regulars for the current season, was replaced with

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

following his discomfort.

"Well, he had some muscle soreness he hasn’t recovered well he wasn’t comfortable to start the game and in this period we cannot take the risk,"

Arteta

told

Sky Sports

before the game.

Arteta also talked about including

Thomas Partey

and

Gabriel

on their substitutes list after having passed their recovery process, adding:

"Gabi is feeling much better he had a complete week of training."

"Thomas has been trying to push us for a week or so as well and I think he can get some minutes as well today. Good news to get some people back."

While Arsenal continue to get back in the game after having a rough start for the season, Arteta has chosen to keep

Pablo Mari

off the pitch despite his recent recovery from injury. The Gunners currently sit 11th in the

Premier League

table with 23 points at hand.
