Luka Modric is not aware of Sergio Ramos’s future; however, his discussions with Real Madrid suggests everything going well.
, conversations regarding a new deal withReal Madrid
are "going in a good direction".
The Croatia international’s deal is due to expire by the end of the season and talks are being had regarding making an extension deal. The 35-year-old has scored the most goals among the Madrid midfielders this season, but Lucas Vazquez and Tone Kroos have made more chances in scoring a goal.
Modric also had the most outstanding passes in Madrid, improving his attacking skills with the help of Zinedine Zidane, when Odegaard has been pushing for more games and Eden Hazard for fitness.
Before heading for the Athletic Bilbao clash, Modric reassured that his remaining football may be played in the Spanish capital.
I can't say much. I'm speaking with the club and everything is going in a good direction,
" he said.
I haven't changed anything in particular. I'm working a lot outside of training, I have the same desire to compete, the years are no problem at all."
Sergio Ramos’s future, on the other hand, is not certain and Modric did not comment on that.
I can't position myself at anyone's side,
" he said. "
Sergio is my friend and I want the best for him, for him to be happy
It's between him and the club. I can't get involved
However, he was delighted to help Odegaard with some pieces o advice, with the 22-year-old only featuring nine times this season.
Last time I spoke to him, I told him I liked him as a player and a person, to keep fighting for his place in this team, that when he plays to make difference to show he deserves to be here,
" Modric said.
To work and fight for your place is my advice for him
