Manchester City joins Juventus in race for Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli

Wed 13 January 2021 | 16:31

Manchester City have set their eyes fixed on Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli, yet reports suggest they will confront Juventus as rivals to lure the player.

The Italy international has become one of Italy's most encouraging playmakers under the Black and Greens manager

Roberto De Zerbi

and presented Italy's shirt for the first time in September 2020.

Cityzens

have now put his name on their bucket list of transfer targets for the late spring, as per the Daily Mail.

Pep Guardiola needs to fortify his choices in the half-back toward the finish of the season, and Locatelli seems like a proper choice.

In any case, the Etihad outfit will confront rivalry from Allianz Stadium for the ex-Milan player.

The Old Lady have been consistently connected with Locatelli and checks his circumstance after the player's representative left the entryway open to a move.

"'We have a great relationship with Sassuolo, the club is really ambitious. We'll see what happens," Said the player's agent Stefano Castelnuovo.

"If a nice offer comes, it would be good for everyone to find an agreement. We'll be always grateful to Sassuolo.

"Again, he will always be grateful to the club [Milan], but I think he is looking for a different experience, in Italy or abroad.

"He dreams of playing the

Champions League

, hopefully both him and Sassuolo will receive a gift in the summer."

Locatelli has found the net twice in 16

Serie A

matches for Sassuolo this season, helping the seventh-set Neroverdi advance through the European contest unexpectedly.
