Marseille put down the chance to sign Diego Costa

The Brazilian striker is looking for a new club following terminating his contract with the Roji Blancos last month after falling out of Diego Simeone’s preference, the Uruguayan favored his new signing, Luis Suarez and Joao Felix ahead of the former Chelsea striker.

According to La Provence,

Marseille

rejected the chance to sign the 32-year-old striker as his

€8m per year

salary had proven prohibitive. The Brazilian’s representatives and the Ligue 1 side were reportedly in negotiations over a possible transfer.

However, Premier League club,

Wolverhampton Wanderers

, are said to be interested in signing the striker, the Wolves have been struggling in

Jimenez’s

absence as they have only won one of their last seven league fixtures, a formal offer from the English side is yet to be made.

Diego Costa

signed for

Atletico

from

Real Valladolid

in 2010 for his first spell and scored 64 goals in his 135 appearances before joining

Chelsea

in 2014.

The former Spain international returned to Atleti in January of 2018, scoring 19 goals in 81 outings.
