Mon 11 January 2021 | 20:30

Turkish giants are thinking about signing Arsenal’s midfielder.

Fenerbahce’s president claims that they are getting closer to signing Arsenal’s abandoned midfielder

Mesut Ozil

. Despite Ali Koc’s progress in the pursuit of Ozil, there is another club looking to make a deal with him.

D.C. United has also made a move to sign Real Madrid’s former star but Ozil has shown interest in going back to his hometown.

Mesut Ozil has not revealed his final decision yet but he has claimed that he is going to play in MLS if he doesn’t get back to Turkey.

Here is what Fenerbahce president Koc said about Ozil’s transfer:

"It is still a dream,

"We can confirm that we have made some progress in this matter. But nothing is perfect yet.

"It is important that Mesut discuss things with his current club."

He added: "Not a single person from Fenerbahce made a statement. There are issues between Mesut and Arsenal.

"It is a subject that we are closer to than before. Nothing is finished. It may or may not go through. The news reports that an agreement has been made weakens our hand."

There were speculations about Tottenham’s interest in signing Ozil but he says that he would rather retiring instead of joining Mourinho’s side.

Ozil has not played in Premier League in this season as Arteta keeps leaving him out of his squad.
