Mon 11 January 2021 | 20:30

The 18-year-old joined the Red Devils and is expected to show his full potentials.

Rio Ferdinand

believes

Amad Diallo

is a “world-beater” and is confident the young forward has a resemblance to

Cristiano Ronaldo

when he joined

Manchester United

.

Last October United signed Diallo with him staying in Italy until January 2021. According to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the United forward has “special abilities” and he has caught the attention of many

Serie A

regarding his pace and trickery out wide which were similar to those of Ronaldo in 2003. Ferdinand is hoping that he will have the same influence as the now five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo.

"

We’ve just bought a kid in from

Atalanta

and hopefully he does something,

” the former Manchester United defender said. “

If you see his clips and speak to people at the club who are involved in buying him, potentially this kid could be a world-beater.

“That is the thought of Manchester United people that this kid is one they have unearthed.”

Although making comparisons with Ronaldo is a bold call, Ferdinand believes he is just like the teenager who was brought to United from Portuguese side Sporting CP.

I don’t want to put the pressure of Ronaldo on him, but no-one knew about Ronaldo when we bought him other than the people in Portugal,

” Ferdinand said. “

This kid seems similar in that sense and if you see his clips and the way people talk about him, the world is his oyster if he applies himself right.”

Ronaldo pulled off a talismanic performance and pushed himself to greatness by winning three

Premier League

and a

Champions League

title with Manchester United, before moving to

Real Madrid

.

He continued to contribute to two La Liga titles and four Champions League crown in Real Madrid. No at the age of 35, the legend Ronaldo is still performing magnificently, and if Diallo is anything like him, he will be a worthy fee spent by the Red Devils.
