Valdano believes that Sergio Ramos is extending his contract despite all the rumors.
While Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos seemed to agree on a contract extension before the start of the New Year, this did not happen, and El Chiringuito recently claimed that Ramos had told Real president Florentino Perez that he will not accept the extension offer and will consider other offers from now on.
There are lots of rumors around Ramos, and given that he can legally enter into negotiations with other clubs, there is a lot of speculation about his future.
Ramos wants a two-year contract without deduction of salary, but Real Madrid have offered him a one-year contract with a 10% salary reduction.
Former Real Madrid coach and player Jorge Valdano, who was also the club's sporting director for a while, has spoken about Ramos and Real situation.
“He will end up renewing with Real Madrid. It would be a mistake on both sides if it were not done.” Valdano said
“The same thing happened with Cristiano. Real Madrid was left without the Champions League and Cristiano without the Ballon d’Or.”
Valdano also commented on Real's complaints about the trip to Pamplona and the match against Osasuna in bad weather which caused La Liga officials to face many criticisms.
“If a plane takes off, the responsibility is not with La Liga.”
