The Italian left back says he is still fully committed to Chelsea despite his lack of game time at Stamford Bridge.
Since he has taken charge of Chelsea,
has only been usingEmerson Palmieri
sparingly. The Italy international has appeared in only 21 matches forChelsea
and with the club’s heavy spending in the summer, competition for the team’s defensive positions has increased. Since he leftLeicester City
with a £50 million deal, Ben Chilwell has been Lampard’s first choice for the left-back position and his solid performances have left little room for other players in the squad who want to play in that position. Emerson has been linked with the likes of Juventus and Inter for a transfer back to Serie A but despite his lack of regular game time, He says that he is still fully committed to the Blues.
"I feel good because I’m training hard every day, I’m always ready when the manager puts me on the pitch and I try to do my best,"
"The game yesterday was very important for us because in the last game we lost. So the most important thing was to have a solid game and get the victory, like we did."
Asked about his chances to score in his team’s FA Cup match against Morecambe on Sunday, Emerson responded:
"I tried three times, it didn’t happen in this game, but I’m happy for the team and the result,
"Callum [Hudson-Odoi], Hakim [Ziyech] or Christian [Pulisic], they like to stay between the lines, so for me, I have the space for the overlap. Or yesterday, Callum stayed high more with me inside, so this is a good connection.
"It depends on the opponent and we try to move the defenders."
