The absence of the Uruguayan defender will hit Barça hard.
Ronald Araujo was in the starting line-up for his side's game against Granada last night, but suffered a pre-match injury and was replaced by Samuel Umtiti.
The Sport newspaper claimed that the Uruguayan defender put too much pressure on his right hamstring and suffered an injury in this area. He underwent medical treatment today for the Barcelona medical team.
It is not yet clear when Araujo will recover, but he appears to be sidelined for several weeks, with one of Barça's most important appearances during this period being Wednesday's clash with Real Sociedad in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.
Araujo has been one of Barça's best players this season and has worked with maturity and confidence during this time. Along with Pedri, Araujo was also one of the players who has attracted a lot of attention this season with his efforts in training and he will surely will be missed.
